Four daily social hacks for your start up

Tuesday 26th April 2022

Social media is one of the most important tools you can use to help grow your start up business. Used correctly, it can become a great way to build up a strong following giving you the perfect opportunity to communicate information about your business and its ethos - hopefully leading to lots of new customers.

First and foremost, make sure you have a presence on the main social media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok.

There are some great ways to utilise social media to get it to work for you and we have come up with 4 easy social media hacks that will help get you started on growing your new business

Four daily social hacks for your start up:

1. Be active

2. Be engaging

3. Use Instagram Reels and TikTok to reach new people

4. Keep your audience interested

1. Be active

Make sure you are active on your social media accounts. Anyone trying to find your business will feel more confident if you are current and engaging regularly, as this gives the impression that you are doing all you can to connect and communicate. If you think this sounds too time consuming you could always sign up to a scheduling program. These programs will allow you to schedule your posts in one place for all the different social media platforms, the scheduler will then take care of your posts allowing you to stay active at all times but without it taking up all your valuable time.

2. Be engaging

Take advantage of the fact that on average people spend around 2 hours a day on social media. This gives you lots of opportunities to engage with your customers.

  • Make sure the creatives you use are engaging so will be more likely to catch the eye of someone scrolling through their feed
  • Hold competitions and encourage people to tag their friends
  • Ask people for their opinions on your products
  • Ask your followers questions and then come up with solutions.

All of this will create a feeling of community amongst your customers and they will then be more likely to stay loyal to you, post good reviews and recommend you to others.

3. Use Instagram Reels and TikTok to reach new people

Using Instagram Reels and TikTok are really effective ways of reaching people who do not already follow you and can be a great way to showcase your life and your business to reach prospective customers.

A short video can give your audience a sense of who you are as well as what you do, making it easier to relate and connect in a meaningful way. If your video is being engaged with, the TikTok / Instagram Reels algorithm will show it to more new people and your reach will grow exponentially as more people engage with your content – it’s a much more effective way of reaching new customers than through a regular Instagram or Facebook post.

4. Keep your audience interested

Try to vary the content you post:

  • If you keep saying the same things or posting the same type of visuals your audience will eventually disengage and scroll past, so make sure you grab their attention and then try and keep hold of it.
  • Make your business more personable by offering insights into your daily life and how you operate.
  • Showcase special things that are happening or events that you are involved in.
  • Ensure you educate your audience and make sure you continue providing them with all the reasons to choose your business over someone else’s.

Social media is the perfect tool to utilise for your start up.

Most people engage regularly with it and use it to solve problems and find things they want or need. Be sure you make the most of this behaviour, using it as effectively as you can to find the right people and to engage effectively with them, creating a feeling of community and offering solutions to their problems.
