Our Approach

In shaping our sustainability strategy, we follow the principles of an Environmental, Social and Governance Framework (ESG).

We prioritise addressing global warming  through a commitment to climate action in our sustainable business planning, with targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions using formal Science Based Targets (SBTs) that we have submitted for review by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi).

Our broader sustainability objectives and targets are structured around the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are focused on sectors of the economy  where we have expertise and can create maximum impact.  Read more on our Net Zero page.

We’ve set some ambitious targets for Novuna’s sustainability programme with climate focus as a priority in line with the Paris Agreement.

Our key achievements in making a sustainable difference at Novuna

We’re enabling zero emissions mobility

We’re at the forefront of the electrification movement, leading the charge in helping some of the biggest companies transition to fully electric fleets. We’re also reducing our own vehicle emissions, with 69.5% of our company car fleet now electrified.

We’re delivering finance solutions for businesses to achieve their net zero ambitions

We’re a leading funding partner for SMEs and bigger corporations supporting the decarbonisation of the UK’s infrastructure. Last year we funded £636.6m of Green Assets supporting the development and construction of sustainable energy and transport projects.

We’re prioritising the wellbeing of our colleagues and supporting their development

We’re committed to invest in our people in return for their skills, capabilities and experience. 91.2% of our employees would recommend Novuna as a great place to work.

We’re committed to achieving an inclusive and diverse workplace

We’ve signed up to a number of industry charters to demonstrate our commitment to equality and diversity. In recognition of the steps we’ve taken to achieve workplace diversity, we’ve been named as one of the UK’s top 50 most inclusive employers four years running.

We’re actively supporting charities and communities

We aim to make a positive and lasting impact to people and the communities in which we live, work and serve. Last year we donated £340k to a total of 52 charities and undertook 518 hours of volunteering.

We’re committed to the highest standards of Corporate Governance

100% of full-time colleagues and contractors are paid the Real Living Wage and ALL our suppliers have our Code of Conduct within their contracts with us.
